Blackwater Country Club

Blackwater Country Club engaged Tim English Design to modernise its ageing clubhouse facilities and create a contemporary venue that better served members, visitors and the wider community. The brief focused on improving the functionality and presentation of the existing club while creating a stronger connection between the clubhouse and the golf course. A key objective was the introduction of a substantial deck extension that would allow patrons to comfortably spectate golf activities and competitions while enjoying food, beverages and social events in an inviting outdoor environment.

The design reimagines the club as a modern hospitality and community destination, centred around a generous outdoor entertainment terrace overlooking the golf course. Large roof forms, warm timber-look finishes and landscaped planter beds create a contemporary architectural identity while maintaining a relaxed country club atmosphere. The deck extension is designed as a flexible viewing platform, providing uninterrupted sightlines across the course and creating opportunities for casual gatherings, competition days and larger club events.

Internally and externally, the redevelopment improves circulation, accessibility and the relationship between dining, bar and outdoor entertaining spaces. The design carefully balances functionality with atmosphere, ensuring the facility can accommodate day-to-day club operations while also supporting larger social and sporting events throughout the year.

The proposed redevelopment transforms the Blackwater Country Club into a contemporary and welcoming destination that enhances both member experience and community engagement. The expanded outdoor entertainment areas create a vibrant connection to the golf course, allowing spectators to comfortably enjoy tournaments and club activities while activating the venue throughout the day. The result is a modern, flexible and highly functional facility that strengthens the club's long-term appeal and positions it as a key recreational and social hub for the Blackwater community.
