The Brewery

The Brewery was conceived as a purpose-built hospitality venue that combined a fully operational brewing facility with a welcoming public destination in the heart of town. The client sought to create a unique venue where patrons could experience the brewing process firsthand while enjoying a relaxed dining and social environment. The brief called for a commercially viable and highly functional facility that would establish a distinctive identity within town's growing hospitality precinct and support the future growth of the business.

Working within a compact site, the design carefully balanced industrial functionality with a warm coastal character. The brewing operations were positioned to maintain efficient production workflows while remaining visually connected to the hospitality spaces through glazing and open sightlines. Exposed steel structure, custom box gutters, cantilevered awnings and visible building services were intentionally celebrated as design features, reflecting the authenticity of the brewing process. These robust industrial elements were softened through timber detailing, filtered natural light and a refined material palette that responded to Yeppoon's coastal setting.

The result is a distinctive commercial destination that seamlessly integrates production and hospitality within a single cohesive environment. Patrons are immersed in the brewing experience while enjoying a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, creating a memorable venue that stands apart from traditional hospitality offerings. The project's innovative approach to industrial design and placemaking was recognised with a Building Design Queensland Regional Design Award for Commercial Concept, highlighting its success in delivering a functional, engaging and architecturally distinctive destination for Yeppoon.
